Friday Favorites|Fiction Tropes

Top Ten Tuesday-59

Hey guys, Friday Favorites is hosted by Lorraine over at Geeky Galaxy. And this tag is just a fun way to share some of your favorite things every Friday 🙂

Today’s prompt is about favorite tropes! I’m usually not opposed to many tropes like I won’t not pick up a book because it has a certain trope. I will, however, pick up a book without giving it much thought if it has some of my favorite tropes. And my favorite tropes are…

1. Hate to Love

I love love love the hate to love trope. I blame Wattpad for this aha because so many books on there are hate to love and I used to read a ton on Wattpad. If I know of a book that has this trope I won’t even read the synopsis I’ll just pick it up or put it on my to-buy list. One of the reasons I love this trope is because of the tension usually between the characters and then watching it slowly turn to romance. One of my favorite couples from this trope is Damon and Elena from The Vampire Diaries🙌🏻

2. Fake Dating

I feel like this is one of the lesser done tropes which makes me kind of sad because it is probably my second favorite one. Because I feel like its one of the lesser done ones, I’ll usually pick up the book because it has this trope. I just love watching the lines blur for the characters when they fake date and then theres usually the break up between the two and it hurts but you also know they are going to get back together so you aren’t too worried aha. One of my favorite couples from this trope is none other than Peter K and Lara Jean!

So those are my top two favorite tropes! Some other tropes that I love are arranged marriage, there is only one bed, hidden power/royalty, and found family!

What are some of your favorite tropes, lets talk in the comments!

Friday Favorites|Villains

Top Ten Tuesday-59

Hey guys, Friday Favorites is hosted by Lorraine over at Geeky Galaxy. And this tag is just a fun way to share some of your favorite things every Friday 🙂

Hello everybody, hope you are all staying safe! Its been awhile since I’ve done a Friday Favorite, I’ve been bad at remembering to do them🙈 but hopefully with nothing much to do I will start to remember! Now, onto my favorite villains…

Captain Hook from Peter Pan

Peter Pan is my favorite Disney movie and Captain Hook just became one of my favorite villains. I used to use a hanger as my “hook” when I was little. If we are going to go off looks though, Killian from Once Upon A Time obviously wins aha, I will pass on the handlebar mustache of the OG Hook lol.

The Darkling from Shadow and Bone

Before I go any further I just want to say, I am not a fan of the Darkling. You might now be thinking to yourself, “then why Macy is he on this list?” Well, though I do not like him, I appreciate him as a villain. I mean the whole thing in King of Scars, A+ villain move right there lol.

Jacks from Caraval

Strangely I wasn’t a huge fan of him in the second book but the third book is where I started to like him. Its weird I know because we got more of him in the second book than the third but thats just what happened. Before I came around to Legend I shipped Tella and Jacks(please tell me I am not the only one🙈), I just, I know he’s a Fate and whatever but I sorta was shipping them. Anyways, I am getting off topic here, back to the scheduled program.

The Phantom from Phantom of the Opera

I am not one to “fall” for the villain but the Phantom, man he just captured my heart. I was so mad that Christine choose Roul over him, never did I want someone to end up with the villain more than in this movie. The Phantom is definitely one I wouldn’t mind overlooking all the murders to be with. Also, no, its not because he is played by Gerald Butler, I honestly don’t find him that good looking, I don’t know if anyone does but I just wanted to say that incase people thought that is why I like the Phantom.

So there it is, all my favorite villains. Who are some of your favorite villains?

There are so many funky and fun words out there that I love. Most of my favorite words I don’t use a lot, they are just my favorite because of how they sound lol.

flamboyant

Okay, tell me this word isn’t fun to say…I’m waiting

flabbergasted

surprise (someone) greatly; astonish.

This is my favorite because it is just fun to say and I like using it my writing

plethora

a large or excessive amount of (something)

I love love love using this word whenever I can! I also think it sounds kind of funky when said out loud which makes me love it even more

So those are my main favorite words!

What are some of your favorite words?

Friday Favorites|Favorite Nerdy Character(s)

Top Ten Tuesday-25.png

Hey guys, Friday Favorites is hosted by Kibby who started this tag at Something of the Book. And this tag is just a fun way to share some of your favorite things every Friday 🙂

There are so many awesome nerdy book characters out there but my favorite is none other than *drum roll*

Hermione Granger

hermione.jpg

I know I know, this is such a classic answer but I really love this girl! She definitely a nerdy girl but she also kick butt and I think thats absolutely awesome. I think Hermione shows that just because your nerdy doesn’t mean your a huge introvert who just studies and doesn’t really socialize but that they can be strong and kick some evil butt!!

Who is one of your favorite nerdy characters?

Friday Favorites|Underrated Book(s)

Top Ten Tuesday-21.png

Hey guys, Friday Favorites is hosted by Kibby who started this tag at Something of the Book. And this tag is just a fun way to share some of your favorite things every Friday 🙂

I’ll be honest, I sometimes have a bit of trouble figuring out which books are underrated. I mean, how do I know if its underrated or not, there could be so many people talking about the book but I don’t know therefore I think its underrated. But, I’m going to give it a shot and say a book thats my favorite that I consider underrated.

I think the book Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys is an underrated book. 41ls91Vp2bL._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_This book is about a girl named Lina who is Lithuanian in 1941. Soviet officers bang on her home and tear her and her family away from the life they’ve known. When separated from her father, Lina along with her mother and brother make their way up to Siberia to work in the labor camps under the order of Stalin.

This book is honestly a whirlwind of emotions and its just so beautiful written. If you haven’t given this book a read I don’t know what your doing but drop it and add this to your TBR. There are so many beautiful elements in this book that makes it so wonderful and I definitely think more people need to read it.

Friday Favorites|Books Set in Space

Top Ten Tuesday-14

Hey guys, Friday Favorites is hosted by Kibby who started this tag at Something of the Book. And this tag is just a fun way to share some of your favorite things every Friday 🙂

I love science fiction books but I feel like its a very hit or miss genre. Even though I love science fiction books, its a hard genre for me to feel in the mood to read(I am a mood reader) which kind of sucks. But anyways, onto some of my favorite books set in space.

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

So I know this book doesn’t wholly take place in space BUT the last book is set in space and some of the third book too so I feel like it counts! I really love the characters in this book, I was so sad to finish this series and say goodbye to the characters. I feel like this series has one of the best set of characters

Salvage Rat by Larry N. Martin

This was a book I didn’t expect myself to like so much. I liked the two main characters in this and the banter between the two of them was enjoyable to read. There was also a lot of action in this book which I loved!

So, what are some of your favorite books set in space?

Friday Favorites|Character Deaths

Top Ten Tuesday-11

Hey guys, Friday Favorites is hosted by Kibby who started this tag at Something of the Book. And this tag is just a fun way to share some of your favorite things every Friday 🙂

So this post is obviously going to contain spoilers for certain books but to make sure no one gets spoiled I will post what book it is before so if you haven’t read it, you won’t get spoiled 🙂

Shadow and Bone Series

The Darkling

I was happy when the Darkling finally died. I know that a lot of people like him but I am not one of those people. He goes about everything wrong and I appreciate his love for Ravka but he goes about it in such a horrible way that I think it outshines his love for Ravka.

The Mortal Instruments Series

Valentine

Valentine is one of my favorite villains. Sometimes when my friend and I insult each other we will turn to villains and we often through Valentine into the mix lol. But I was very glad to see him go because I personally think he is a lunatic and I’m pretty sure I whooped for joy when he died lol.

Harry Potter

Voldemort

Such a great moment when Voldemort died. I think his death scene is one of my favorites which is why he made this list. I don’t think Voldemort is on this list so much because I was glad he was dead(not that I wasn’t) but I liked how he died and sort of the theatrics of it.

Who is one of your favorite character deaths? Please make sure to put a spoiler warning so no one gets spoiled!

Friday Favorites|Books That Were Recommended To Me

IMG_1625.jpeg

Hey guys, Friday Favorites is hosted by Kibby who started this tag at Something of the Book. And this tag is just a fun way to share some of your favorite things every Friday 🙂

Okay, I’m someone who tries to read what my friends recommend me because then it just gives us more things to talk about and if I end up liking the book then its another thing we have in common. So some of my favorite books recommended to me are…

My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult

This book is just so good! The story is so heartbreaking with like a touch of heartwarming. There are many point of views in this book that give you insight on all the characters. I really loved the writing and thought it was so well written. I have yet to see the movie but I hope its like the book because I am not a fan of when movies stray from the book. Anyways I loved this book so much and you all should read it!

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

My friend really loved this trilogy and we have pretty similar reading tastes so I knew there was a good chance I was going to like this trilogy a ton. And I ended up really loving this trilogy. I flew through these books quickly, even ended up finishing one in one sitting. I really love Peter and Lara Jean’s relationship, so cute!

Slaughterhoue-Five by Kurt Vonnegut

One of my teachers recommended me this book and I was a little apprehensive about it but really had nothing better to read at the time *remember huge TBR pile* okay well, maybe I had a ton of better books to read aha. But anyways, I really ended up loving this book and I had so many thoughts while reading it, the amount of tabs there were was insurmountable.

What were some books recommended to you that you ended up loving?

Friday Favorites|Movie or TV Adaptation

IMG_1488.jpeg

Hey guys, Friday Favorites is hosted by Kibby who started this tag at Something of the Book. And this tag is just a fun way to share some of your favorite things every Friday 🙂

Okay, so I’m pretty sure we can all mostly agree that Harry Potter is one of the best book to movie adaptations. Though it is a very good adaptation, it is not my favorite and this post is about my favorite adaptation! My favorite movie adaptation is…

The Book Thief

I really loved the movie. It’s been a while since I’ve seen it but ever since I’ve watched it, it’s been one of my favorite movie adaptation, along with my favorite book lol. I thought it was such a well done adaptation and they stayed pretty true to the book. I loved seeing the characters come to life, especially Rudy, I love him as a character.

If you haven’t seen the movie you can check out the trailer here!

Whats a movie/TV adaptation thats your favorite?

Friday Favorites: Fictional Criminals

IMG_1332.jpeg

Hey guys, Friday Favorites is hosted by Kibby who started this tag at Something of the Book. And this tag is just a fun way to share some of your favorite things every Friday 🙂

There are many awesome fictional characters out in the books. The most popular is probably Kaz Brekker, and while I do love him, I want to talk about someone else. Throne Carswell.

Carswell_Thorne_Portrait              Lunar Chronicles Collage - Final.jpg

I loved Thorne in the Lunar Chronicles, he was definitely one of my favorite characters in the series. He often made me laugh in the book and he was definitely one to lighten the mood if they were in a tough situation. I love how he acts toward Cress as well and watching them together is so cute! Also have I mentioned I love his personality and how he makes light of hard situations because I just love him for that!

So, who is your favorite criminal?
