Top 5 Books|2019

Top Ten Tuesday-55.png

In 2019 I read 96 books! Some of those were super amazing reads, while others were quite the opposite. In this post, I will be listing my 5 favorite books of 2019. These will be in no particular order.

Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

I. Loved. This. Book. The world was so interesting, I thought it was so cool how books are alive. The characters were awesome! Elisabeth was such a badass and I loved how she didn’t give up. Nathaniel was also another great story and I loved how Rogerson gave him depth and a backstory. Silas was my absolute fave character in this book. I can’t really say much about him and why I love him because it would be a spoiler. If you haven’t read this book I super recommend it! I have a book review you can read here. This was a 5 star read for me!

The Fountains of Silence by Rita Sepetys

I am a huge fan of Sepetys, I’ve read all her books and have loved every single one and this one was so exception! I didn’t know anything about the time period in which this books takes place so I defiantly learned some things while reading this which was cool. Sepetys is such a great storyteller and you can see that in the way she writes and tells the story. All the characters have a complexity, even those who aren’t necessarily the main character and each character has their own importance when it comes to telling the story in which the time period is set in. I have a full review here if you wish to read it. This was another 5 star read for me!

Skyward by Brandon Sanderson

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this book or not. The last Sanderson book I read I did not like so I was apprehensive going into this. Much to my surprise I ended up loving this book! Spensa is a great main character and some of her comments had me laughing. I loved Spensa’s flight crew and they each added something to the book. This is an action packed book and I loved that. Also M-Bot is such a great character and I loved his commentary, definitely added some comedy to the book. I have a book review here if you wish to read more of my thoughts on Skyward. This was a 5 star read for me!

Escaping from Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco

This is probably my favorite book in the Stalking Jack the Ripper series. I really enjoyed the setting in which this book takes place in and I think it has to be my favorite out of the four books. Though Audrey Rose is a bit of a dummy in this book, I liked seeing Audrey Rose’s and Thomas’s relationship advance. This was a 5 star read for me!

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas

This is a book that I cannot believe I finished. It is over 1000+ pages and I was definitely intimidated by it. But I’ve been wanting to read it for so long that I told myself I was going to give it a try and I am so glad I did because this book is woah. There is so much going on in it and it is so complex, I wonder how the author even wrote it. Though we have the Count as the main character, all the background characters have almost as much depth and dimension as the Count has, along with their own storyline. As I was reading it I loved trying to figure out all the connections and the feeling when I figured one out. I have a full book review here if you want to read more of my thoughts about the book. This was a 5 star read for me!

There are so many books that I read last year but the ones mentioned above have to be my 5 favorite of the year!
