May Wrap-Up|2019

Top Ten Tuesday-5

Wow, this was such an amazing reading month for me. I am honestly so surprised with how many books I read this month like I think this is the most books I’ve ever read in a month! So, the grand total is *drum roll*  12 books!!

Twisted Fate by Dana Miller

This was a solid book. I really enjoyed it and I was able to quickly finish it which was nice. I gave this a 3.75/5 stars and click here to check out my full review!

For Lila, Forever by Winter Renshaw

This was a nice story. It took me a little while to get into it but it was enjoyable once it picked up. It wasn’t great but it wasn’t horrible, it was just okay. I liked Lila and Thayer(I hope I’m spelling this correctly) together and thought they were cute. Characters didn’t feel super developed. Connections later discovered in the book made sense but at the same time didn’t. It was a cute love story though and enjoyable to read, I gave this 3/5 stars.

Escaping from Houdini

Where do I even begin. I loooooved this book so much! I did not want to put it down at any point and I was just sucked back into this story/series. I loved the mystery in this series and I did not guess who it was which I love in a mystery book. I liked how Thomas and Audrey Rose’s relationship was tested and I thought it was a uh good test for them and their relationship. I feel like in the end it’s going to make their relationship stronger. I gave this book 5/5 stars!

My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows

I listened to this as an audiobook and I am so glad I did! I really loved listening to this and I found myself chuckling multiple times throughout the book. I really liked the twist on the real history and I enjoyed finding like connections to what really happened versus what happened in the book. I gave this a 4.75/5 stars.

We Contain Multitudes by Sarah Henstra

I really enjoyed this book. I liked how it was told in letters and thought it was refreshing to read a book styled differently. I liked the characters and watching their relationship develop and them discovering parts of themselves. Click here to check out my full review!

Defy Me by Tahereh Mafi

I was so happy to read this book but was a bit let down. Don’t get me wrong, I really liked and enjoyed it, but it wasn’t my favorite. I felt there were too many flashback scenes and a lot was happening in a shortish amount of time. There are some other things that I wished happened but due to spoilers I cannot say them. I do hope the last book is better than this book. I gave this a 4/5 stars.

Two Dark Reigns by Kendare Blake

After putting this book on hold three different times, I finally got it from my library! I really enjoyed this book and I flew through it. I am super excited for the next(and final I think) book in the series! I gave this a 4/5 stars.

Liberty Empire by Brooke Ellis

This is the second book in the Empire Series and I thought it was a good second book. In the first book I had some issues with the writing and while I still did in this book, I do feel like the writing improved. I liked seeing Mitch’s and Adeline’s relationship grow and how they get through these curves they are thrown. I gave this a 3/5 stars.

The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West

I read this in one day, thats how much of a nice, easy read this book is. I really like the fake boyfriend kind of trope so this was an easy book for me to enjoy. This was my first Kasie West book and it definitely isn’t going to be my last. I really enjoy the lightness of her books and the sweet romance this book has. I gave this a 4/5 stars.

A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahereh Mafi

This book. I think this is a book everyone needs/should read. Check out my full review here if you wish to read more of my thoughts on this book.

The Distance Between Us by Katie West

Didn’t I say The Fill-In Boyfriend wasn’t going to be my last Kasie West book. I liked this book. I didn’t like is as much as I liked The Fill-In Boyfriend mostly because I was not a huge fan of things revealed in the end. However I did like seeing Caymen and Xander’s relationship and how it grew. I gave this a 4/5 stars.

Hooking Up by Crystal Kaswell

This was a nice romance book. I liked reading about Walker and Iris’s relationship and how it grew. I liked how each character was dealing with something on their own and how it played into who they are as a character. However I wasn’t a fan of how many smut scenes there were. I felt like there were so many and it felt like there were too much scenes and I wish that instead of some of the smut scenes, it was scenes where we got to see their relationship develop because I feel like we didn’t get much of those scenes. I gave this a 3/5 stars.

So those are all the books I read in the month of May!

How many books did you read in May?
