Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday|Favorite Musicals

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.

Todays prompt is audio freebie so that means audiobooks, music, podcasts or anything that one listens to. So I decided to talk about my top ten( I hope I reach ten) musicals. These are also in no particular order.

I basically grew up to Wicked. By elementary school I knew all the lyrics to all the songs. During Defying Gravity I would get the broom and step up on a chair to act like Elphaba when she flies. This musical to me, is such an iconic musical. I don’t listen to it as much as I used to but when I play it, catch up looking to the western sky!

Fiddler on the Roof

I just recently got into this musical. I really love the story it tells and listening to how each character sort of deals and accepts the change that is happening. I also like how it has a mix of super upbeat songs and calm, sort of melancholy songs.

Kinky Boots

I’ve really only listened to the whole soundtrack once. When it comes to this musical I really only like to play the songs I already know and can sing along very well with. That being said, I still love this musical. It also tells another great story about never giving up.

Just like Wicked, I feel like this is an iconic musical. Love belting out the songs to this musical and I’ve listened to it so much I know all the words by heart which is honestly really hard for me to do so if that doesn’t say how much I listen to this musical then I don’t know what does.

This musical is my new musical obsession. I literally play the CD on repeat in my car and I always belt out to it, well unless its 5am because at that point I’m just to tired to function aha. But yeah, bottom line is I am completely obsessed with this musical.

Mamma Mia

This musical I don’t listen to much on its own. It is included in my musicals playlists and thats really only when I listen to it. But I still love this musical and all the songs in it! As well as the storyline to it.

Avenue Q

Okay so really its only two songs I listen to from this musical but I love those two songs! But I need to start listening to the full soundtrack…

I used to listen to this musical a lot and really feel in love with it but for some reason I stopped listening to it. Needless to say I love the musical and I’m definite going to add it back on my playlists.

I listened to this the first time last year and just feel in love with not only the songs but also the story line and the moral of the musical so to say.

Mary Poppins

Love the music. Love the movie. Love, love, love everything about it.

So there we have it, my top ten favorite musicals! What are some musicals you love to listen to?

  1. I am a musical theatre fanatic. Les Mis, Wicked, Annie, Sound of Music, Phantom of the Opera, Rent, Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, Music Man, Pippin, South Pacific, Frozen and Fiddler on the Roof are part of the musicals I love.

Next year, hoping to see Frozen and Anastasia on tour in my hometown- they are touring there that year.

      1. Started to get into Anastasia last year when I began to listen to some songs. So glad it is coming to my hometown.

      2. Still don’t know if I will be able to get to it or not.

So hopefully. In Charlotte’s upcoming season (their 2019-2020 season), I want to see 4 musicals. Usually I only want to see 1-2 musicals. They have a very strong season coming up.

      3. In Charlotte’s 2019-2020 season, the four musicals I hope to see are Les Mis (will be 6th time seeing the stage show), Anastasia, Frozen (the musical I want to see the most this upcoming season), and Wicked (which hasn’t hit Charlotte for four years).

Two musicals will be musicals that I already saw in person- Les Mis/Wicked- two extremely meaningful musicals. While Anastasia and Frozen are musicals I never saw in person- know a lot about Frozen because of the movie and listening to some of the new songs; Anastasia is the musical of the batch I know the least about.
