Wrap-Up

January 2019 Wrap-Up

IMG_0691.jpegHope everyone had a good first month of the new year! I am super happy with how this month turned out reading wise. I ended up reading a whopping 7 books this month!

So the first book I read was P.S I Still Love You by Jenny Han. I really enjoyed this book. It wasn’t necessarily my favorite out of the three but I still really enjoyed it. I quickly read this book so although it had some flaws it was a nice read. I ended up giving this a 4/5 stars.

Next I read Always and Forever Lara Jean by Jenny Han. I devoured this book and ended up finishing it in one sitting. This was my second favorite book in the series, my favorite going to the first book. What I liked about this book was I felt it dealt more with the um hardships I guess you can say about being in a relationship. I really enjoyed this and gave it a 4/5 stars.

So next I decided to go with my January pick for the UnreadShelfProject2019. This books Poison’s Kiss by Breeana Shields. This was an alright read. I didn’t truly love it but didn’t dislike it. I enjoyed the plot of the story and the Indian folklore aspect of the story. However I really didn’t connect much with the characters and didn’t really care what happened. The only character I really cared about what happened to was the main character Miranda’s brother. Overall I have this a 3/5 stars.

I got a free copy of The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon(thank you Sam). I just cannot believe I never thought of picking this book up. I loved the book so much and cannot wait to pick up the next book in the series. If you want to know more of my thoughts you can check out my review here. I gave this a 4/5 stars.

In my copy of The Bone Season came the novella The Pale Dreamer. I didn’t really care for this novella. To me it didn’t really add to the story and to Paige as a character. That being said, I enjoyed the novella and the little story told. I gave this a 3.5/5 stars.

So The Wicked King came out this month! Once I got my copy I picked it up as soon as I could. I really enjoyed the second installment in the series. I didn’t love it as much as The Cruel Prince if I’m being honest. I got a little confused in some of the politics of this story which was a bit difficult because whatever it was would come back later in the story. Other than that I enjoyed this book and I’m just going to say OMG THAT ENDING. I gave this a 4/5 stars.

The last book I read of the month is Salvage Rat by Larry N. Martin. Though to me the title is a little off-putting, this book was so enjoyable. It was full of action which I enjoyed a ton. Sometimes chapters would start put just like jumping into the action of something previously discussed, was just a little wonky to me. I wish there was just this little like bridge that actually led up to the action instead of it happening smack dab in the beginning of the chapter. Wyatt and Beth are the two main characters. I really liked these two characters a ton and their interactions often made me laugh. I gave this a 4/5 stars.

So there you have it, all the books I read this month. Overall it was a pretty good reading month and I read all awesome books! How many did you end up reading this month?
