About Me

Hi, my name is Macy! I am a big reader if you didn’t know. I run a bookstagram account(@afictionreality) and as of now(the moment i am typing this) it has been a year and a half since I’ve created the account. I am loving every second of having the account and being apart of the community. This blog has been been around for a little bit and I’ve been on and off with posting on here. However this time, I am going to commit myself to doing book reviews, tags, and among other things. I really do want to make this blog a permeant thing with regular updates so don’t worry about me disappearing again(I hope). So enough with the boring stuff, I’m sure you want to know a bit about me.

So I’ve been a big reader my whole life, always at the library and always happy when we had to read for homework. However I really got into reading when I started reading the Mortal Instruments series and the Throne of Glass series. I found out about the TMI series when I joined the bookstagram community and I’m so glad I did. After that I was buying and reading books like crazy. I read every chance I get now, in class(yes, I have gotten in trouble for it), during commercials, and any other free time I get.

I don’t remember how I came across the bookstagram community but I do remember that once I found out more about it, I wanted to become apart of it. In my life, I do not have a lot of friends who love reading like I do. So becoming apart of the community made an impact on me. Finally, I found a place where I can talk to people who love reading as much as I do. I found a place where I can talk about books as much as I want and not get crazy looks. And how can I forget about the amazing people. In the year and a half years of being apart of the community, I have not come across a mean, unkind person, everyone I have met/come across has been kind. Anyways, I’m getting a little sidetracked. Joining the community made me a happier person and reenforced my love for reading. As soon as I got set on my username and my bio was set, I took my first photo. Yes, my first photo was taken as soon as my account was set up(and at dark might I add). Needless to say, I really had no idea what I was doing, but nevertheless, I wanted to be apart of the community.

Once I started following more accounts I realized what themes were(my mortal enemy). I also found out that people do photoshoots and just don’t take pictures on the fly(there is nothing wrong with doing this though). So I started taking time and planning photos and figuring out a theme. Within the first month(don’t quote me on that) I had like 3 themes if thats what you can call them.

And I kept a solid theme for a while. I started improving my photography skills and I was finally getting into the swing of things. I was still struggling with keeping a theme(and struggled a lot I did) but I got to posting regular, doing hashtags(big stuff, I know) and other bookstagrammy(I just made up that word) things. After many battles with having a theme, I decided the best thing for me and my account is to not have a theme. If anyone who is new to the community or wants to join, I have one advice for you. Although people may make having a theme a big deal and that a theme is needed and a theme makes your feed look nice and a nice feed means more followers. That isn’t true. You can have no theme and your feed can look amazing. You do what makes you happy. Out of personal experience, don’t fall into the giant hole that is the perfect account and the right account and the true account. I have fallen into that hole and lost my love for posting and being on the community. But being away made me miss it and I decided that I’m just going to do what makes me happy and not care about followers or likes or a “good looking feed.” I have no theme with my account now and I am loving it.

I am excited to get back into blogging and writing reviews. As a warning, I would like to say I am not the best at writing reviews but with practice and writing more and more, hopefully they will begin to not suck.
